2GAME Esports has announced via their X account the promotion of Estevão "askia" Ferreira from their academy team to their main VALORANT roster, less than a week before VCT 2025 - Americas Stage 1.

The sudden roster change follows a disappointing performance at VCT 2025 - Americas Kickoff.

Pryze Departs After VCT Kickoff Disaster

Askia's arrival comes shortly after 2Game Esports parted ways with Luis "pryze" Henrique. The decision to remove pryze was made in response to the team’s last-place finish at VCT Americas Kickoff, where they struggled against Tier 1 competition for the first time.

Despite this being 2Game’s first season in VCT Americas following their promotion through VCT 2024 - Ascension: AMERICAS, their struggles have raised concerns about their ability to compete at the highest level.

Askia’s Unexpected Promotion

Originally, Askia was set to debut for 2GAME Academy, but those plans appear to have changed. Another player is expected to take his place in the academy, while Askia now finds himself on the front lines of VCT Americas. With the move, 2Game’s updated roster for Stage 1 is as follows:

A Desperate Move to Avoid Relegation?

2Game Esports faces immense pressure to turn their season around. Among all Ascension teams, only G2 Esports has managed to make a strong impression, while 2Game finds itself in danger of an early exit from the league. Another poor showing in Stage 1 could seal their fate, forcing them back to Challengers.

The revamped roster will make its debut on March 23 in the VCT Americas Stage 1 Group Stage against Evil Geniuses. Although EG no longer boasts the same roster that won Champions 2023, they remain a formidable opponent. 2Game Esports will need a dramatic improvement if they hope to avoid another disappointing result.
