Berlin set to host the Valorant Game Changers Championship
Towards the end of 2021, Riot Games released an announcement regarding the layout of Valorant Champions Tour for the following year. Apart from the notable changes made to the previous format, they also hinted towards expanding opportunities available to female and non-binary esports professionals featuring a total of three Game Changers Series, which will conclude in a Game Changers Championship.
Fast forward six months later and we finally have all the information regarding the highly anticipated event set to feature the best teams from Game Changers tournaments around the world.
As per the press release issued earlier today, the Game Changers Championship will be hosted in Berlin from 15th-20th November. Berlin is no stranger to VCT tournaments, being the host to both VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021 and VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - Masters Berlin - Playoffs last year.
There will be a total of eight teams from the six major regions around the world. While most regions will have to rally behind a single representative, Europe and NA will have the option to select from the best two. According to Riot, each region was provided with slots based on the competitiveness of their region and their respective player population.
Lastly, the tournament will be played in a conventional Double Elimination format. Two of the three major Game Changers Series are yet to be played out; therefore, no team has secured as absolute spot at the event.
